How long does it take to confirm the Swine flu/H1N1?

I live in Maryland and we have 15 cases of it he was awaiting confirmation about 1 week ago and a half now. Why are they not saying that we have or we have not.

I work in a hospital and a memo was distributed to all departments, giving many explicit details of how we would manage any suspected case of H1N1. After reaching our laboratory, preliminary results (roughly a screening, I think?) Must be available within 2 hours. Specimens were collected daily surrounding doctors' offices. So I guess the (provisional) results are known later than 12-24 hours. If the test was positive, I think they should be sent elsewhere for an "official" confirmation. Is this what the 15 cases await official confirmation? I do not memo in front of me, but what I remember of it.
